Use case · Machine & process monitoring

See every machine's status without walking the shop floor.

ModbusSudo reads PLCs, VFDs, controllers and analog transmitters over Modbus, 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, digital inputs and pulse counters — and the SensorLoop IoT Platform shows running status, process values and downtime for every machine in one place.

Parameters monitored

Everything your team needs to watch

Values are read directly from your meters, sensors and controllers, labelled in plain language and shown with the right units.

Temperature

Furnaces, ovens, reactors, cold rooms, bearings

Pressure

Compressed air, hydraulics, steam and pumps

Level

Tanks, silos and sumps

Machine status

Running, idle, stopped or tripped via digital I/O

Run hours & cycles

Counters for maintenance planning

Speed & frequency

Motor and VFD speed, output frequency, current

Production count

Pulse counters for pieces, strokes or batches

Any Modbus register

PLC tags and controller values mapped by name

On the dashboard

What you get with Machine & Process Monitoring

Machine status board

Every machine as a tile: running, idle, stopped or in alarm — perfect for a supervisor's phone or a control-room TV.

Process trends

Any parameter from 1 hour to 90 days, with average, min and max and a zoomable chart.

Run hours & downtime

Automatic run-hour counters and downtime logs to plan maintenance and find the real causes of stoppages.

Works with existing PLCs

Read values from PLCs and SCADA over Modbus TCP or RTU without changing their programs.

Analog & digital signals

4–20 mA, 0–10 V, digital inputs and pulse counters from transmitters and switches.

Shift reports

Shift-wise and daily summaries of running time, downtime and process values in PDF and Excel.
Alerts

Hear about it in seconds — not at the end of the month

Set limits per parameter and choose who gets notified. Alerts go out on WhatsApp, SMS and email with the exact value, device and time.

Insights & analysis

The platform analyses your data continuously and points out what deserves attention.

  • Running vs idle time for each machine and shift
  • Most frequent stoppage times and machines
  • Energy and process values side by side for the same machine
  • Maintenance planned from actual run hours, not calendars
  • Early warning from slowly rising temperatures or falling pressures

What connects

ModbusSudo works with the equipment you already have. Typical devices in this use case:

  • PLCs and HMIs with Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP
  • VFDs and soft starters with RS-485
  • Temperature, pressure and level transmitters (4–20 mA / 0–10 V)
  • Proximity switches, relays and counters (digital I/O, pulse)
  • HART-enabled field instruments

FAQ

Machine & Process Monitoring: common questions

Will connecting to my PLC disturb the machine?+

No. The gateway only reads values over Modbus. It does not change your PLC program or write to the machine unless that is specifically set up.

My machines have no communication port. Can they still be monitored?+

Yes. Running status can be taken from a relay or contactor, and process values from 4–20 mA or 0–10 V transmitters.

Can I see this on a big screen in the plant?+

Yes. The dashboard has a full-screen mode designed for control-room and shop-floor TVs.
