Know what every feeder consumes — and what it costs — right now.
ModbusSudo reads your existing energy meters over Modbus and the SensorLoop IoT Platform turns them into a live energy dashboard with ₹ cost, demand tracking, PF alerts and automatic reports. No more month-end surprises on the electricity bill.
- PF below 0.90 · Feeder 3
- Demand back to normal
This use case runs on SensorLoop products — no custom development needed.
Everything your team needs to watch
Values are read directly from your meters, sensors and controllers, labelled in plain language and shown with the right units.

AI-based energy insights
The platform analyses your data continuously and points out what deserves attention.
- Detect abnormal consumption compared with the same hour on normal days
- Identify peak-demand waste — which hours push your maximum demand up
- Detect load imbalance across R, Y and B phases
- Suggest power factor correction when PF trends downward
- Identify idle equipment running at night, on Sundays and holidays
What connects
ModbusSudo works with the equipment you already have. Typical devices in this use case:
- Multifunction energy meters with RS-485 Modbus (most meters from Schneider, Secure, L&T, Selec, Elmeasure and others)
- Existing panel meters on main incomer, DG and feeders
- CT-based submeters for machine-wise monitoring
- ModbusSudo gateway with multiple meters on one RS-485 line
Built around how Indian industrial bills are calculated
Most of the avoidable cost on an HT or LT industrial bill comes from a few line items. SensorLoop puts each of them on screen while you can still do something about it.
PF penalties & incentives
Many state DISCOMs charge a penalty when average PF falls below the prescribed limit and give a rebate when it stays high. Live PF and low-PF alerts help you stay on the right side.
Contract & maximum demand
Exceeding contract demand often attracts excess-demand charges at a higher rate. Demand tracking and early warnings let you shed or shift load in time.
Time-of-Day (ToD) tariff
Where ToD tariffs apply, peak-hour units cost more. Hourly consumption analysis shows which loads can move to off-peak hours.
kVAh billing
With kVAh-based billing, poor PF directly increases billed units. Tracking kVAh alongside kWh shows the real cost of reactive power.
Energy Monitoring: common questions
Can you use the energy meters already installed in my panel?+
Yes, if they have an RS-485 (Modbus RTU) or Ethernet (Modbus TCP) port. Most digital multifunction meters do. If a meter has no communication port, we can suggest a suitable Modbus meter.
How many meters can one gateway read?+
One ModbusSudo reads several meters (slaves) on a single RS-485 line. Pricing is per number of slaves — see the pricing page.
Will the ₹ cost match my electricity bill exactly?+
The dashboard uses the tariff you set (energy rate, demand charge and so on) and gives a close estimate for daily tracking. Your DISCOM bill remains the final reference.
Can I monitor DG sets and solar as well?+
Yes. Any meter on a DG set, solar inverter or transformer that speaks Modbus can be added as its own device on the dashboard.
